RISE Baptism

“Take Me To The Water...” Baptism.... If we could paint a picture for you quickly — the water (when getting baptized) symbolizes a grave. For some, that may not be the most comforting image — however, when you read what comes after the comma in 1 Corinthians 15:4 hopefully your perspective changes. The period doesn’t come after the burial — it comes after the RESURRECTION.

1 Peter‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭ also describes an illustration of baptism. “And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” ‬‬(1 Peter 3:21 NLT) Christ died AND rose from the dead for the remission or cancellation of our sins. Baptism is your public proclamation in being recognized with Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection!
